The next example from the 1989-published book

The next example from the 1989-published book, Thai and Cambodian Sculpture from the 6th to 14th Centuries, is a very unusual example of a sandstone head, believed to be that of a child or young monk. Initially thought to be a portrait of Jayavarman VII as a child, the authors of the book, Wolfgang Felten and Martin Lerner, instead date it to the last quarter of the seventh century in the Pre-Angkor period of Khmer history. It’s a compelling and unique head, squirrelled away in a private collection away from public scrutiny. The book included 41 pieces of Thai and Khmer art, mostly the latter, with all but two of the artifacts in private hands. The authors deliberately failed to include the names of the private collectors, though all of the pieces were being published for the first time.Credit By :Andy Brouwer
