The Cambodia Royal Ballet are fine-tuning their sacred dance routines ahead of their forthcoming visit to France next month. I was fortunate to sit-in on a practice session this afternoon as experienced dancers such as Vuth Chanmoly and Chenda Pumtheara went through their classical routines, ahead of their three performances at the Musée du Quai Branly in Paris on 8 March (2 dances) and 9 March, as part of a new exhibition on the art of clothing from the Orient to the Rising Sun, after which they head to the National Opera Theater in Bordeaux for a single performance. Sharing Cambodia’s cultural heritage in France is a focus during 2025 as the Royal Ballet will be followed by the arrival of 126 Khmer bronze works of art from Cambodia at the Guimet Museum in Paris, ahead of the exhibition - Royal Bronzes of Angkor, an Art of the Divine – which will open on 30 April and continue until 8 September 2025. Nearly 250 Khmer bronzes will be on show. The exhibition will then travel to the USA and will be displayed at the Minneapolis Institute of Art from 25 October to 18 January 2026. This gorgeous Dvarapala, which only returned to Cambodia in 2020, will be one of the rarely-seen bronzes on show.Credit By :Andy Brouwer
