🇰🇭🇰🇭🇰🇭 The restoration of Ta Prohm Kel Temple in #Cambodia by Cambodian
Ta Prohm Kel Temple, a former Angkorian hospital, was severely damaged for a long time. But now it has returned to its original state and is almost as complete as it was in the past. Workers repairing the ancient temple showed their happiness after completing the restoration of the central tower of Ta Prohm Kel Temple.
Seng Sorn, 69, a resident of Ta Trai village, Preah Dak commune, Banteay Srei district, who worked as a repair worker at Ta Prohm Kel Temple, said that Ta Prohm Kel Temple had collapsed when the stone was unstable and very dilapidated. There was resistance almost everywhere. Mr. Seng Sorn participated in the restoration of Ta Prohm Kel Temple, as a sculptor of both sandstone and laterite and expressed his excitement that he was not lazy to restore the temple. He liked to work tirelessly and every day wanted to come and see as well as still wanted to work to restore ancient temples. If he was still healthy, he would always be involved in repairing ancient temples.
60-year-old Lai Lon, a stone carver at Ta Prohm Kel Temple restoration site, said he was happy to be involved in the restoration of ancient temples. He said that this restoration would make the temple strong and leave it for future generations to see and know. Although the work of restoring, preserving, and maintaining the ancient temples to be strong and long-lasting is the role and duty of the APSARA National Authority, it also requires many people to participate in many areas.
Mr. Seng Sorn and Mr. Lai Lon requested the residents and tourists to help preserve the ancient temples of the Khmer ancestors, to avoid using any inappropriate activities in the temple, causing damage to the stone and impacting the value of priceless heritage.
